Former Director of the Commercial Banking arm of Royal Bank of
Scotland in Derby Phil Bloxham, has joined the senior management
team of Midlands law firm Challinors, in the newly created role of
Development Director.
A seasoned and experienced senior banker, Bloxham has been with
RBS for thirty-five years, and has particular experience in the SME
market.
In the new role of Development Director, he will work alongside
Challinors' chief executive Andy Hodges on developing and growing
the firm's corporate client base, as well as pursuing and
fulfilling its aggressive acquisition strategy and its objective to
become one of the Midlands' leading and largest private law
practices.
Bloxham joins Challinors on the back of two key acquisitions by
the firm, which have built its regional network to five
strategically located offices across the Midlands; Challinors
acquired Wolverhampton private practice Shelton Solicitors and
Halesowen's largest law practice, White & Billingham in July
and August respectively.
Andy Hodges comments: "Phil has been widely involved in the
local financial community for more than twenty years, and we intend
to make full use of his excellent skills, knowledge, experience,
contacts and proven track record as a consistent 'business winner',
to assist in developing the firm's corporate client base and
driving forward the firm's business development programme that is
aligned with our ongoing acquisition strategy."
Bloxham was Director Commercial Banking at RBS in Derby for
three years, successfully leading a top performing unit of 15
relationship managers with a dominant local market share. In 2003
he held the same post, in the bank's Nottingham Commercial Banking
Centre where he led a large team which was notable for its strong
new business acquisition performance.
Other roles at the bank include Performance Manager at the
Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Commercial Business Centre, and
Senior Corporate Manager at the bank's Corporate Business Centre in
Nottingham.
On joining Challinors, Bloxham says: "Challinors is one of the
leading and most respected legal firms in the Midlands, recognised
for its great depth of service, provided by an experienced and
quality team. The firm is growing rapidly and its forward-thinking
culture focuses strongly on building on its already excellent
client service.
"In the current difficult economic times and with increasing
competition in the legal sector, delivering legal excellence is a
given, but not enough on its own to ensure business sustainability
and growth. My role will involve working closely with key members
of Challinors team to proactively investigate supporting clients
and addressing the growing complexity of their needs, whilst
assisting in managing the increasing regulation faced by all.
Challinors' senior management team is focussed on building on its
excellent reputation for assisting client success, and I will look
to leverage this and expand into new areas and sectors,
particularly where I feel the firm can make a valuable
contribution."
