Birmingham City Council (BCC) held an interactive one day Human
Resources Conference for all HR staff to share its plans for
transforming the department.
The Council is currently working to improve the quality of its
services to the citizens of Birmingham and has recognised that HR
plays a vital role in supporting this process of change and
improvement.
The HR Conference was held at the International Convention
Centre in Birmingham and began with a presentation from Councillor
Alan Rudge, the cabinet member responsible for Equalities and Human
Resources who has led and implemented the review of the HR service
and is championing the drive for the Council to achieve leading
edge people management practices.
This was followed by a speech from Andy Albon, BCC's director of
Equalities and Human Resources, followed by a series of 45 minute
sessions from keynote speakers covering leadership, change and
innovation.
Councillor Rudge comments: "The HR Conference was a great
success. Delegates had the opportunity to access current specialist
thinking through the workshops and I believe the event has
enlightened, informed and encouraged our staff to work together to
service the community in the best ways possible."
Partners and exhibitors at the event included CIPD, ACAS,
Unison, Birmingham City University, Aston Business School,
Bournville College, Health Exchange, HR Solutions and Unison.
