The private client team at Nottingham law firm Berryman has
received the top-tier ranking in the East Midlands in the latest
Legal 500 survey directory.
The 2009 edition of Legal 500 - regarded as the largest and most
in-depth survey of UK legal firms - recognises Berryman's dedicated
private client team and its Wills, Trusts and Probate specialists
as one of Nottingham's largest, as it moves up the Legal 500
rankings to secure top spot for the first time, ahead of three of
its main regional rival firms.
Its lawyers John Pears and Jacqueline Lewis are also marked-out
in the survey, recognised for their 'exceptional breadth of
knowledge' and advising individuals and trusts with net assets
worth in total, more than £600 million.
Berryman's Technology, Media and Telecoms (TMT) team, led by
Partners Ed Wright and Scott Farnsworth is amongst the firms other
teams securing second-tier status in the Legal 500. The team is
recognised for its advice to clients in the life sciences,
healthcare, communications and ICT sectors, on contentious patents
and trade mark actions and a wide range of contractual issues,
including the governance framework for innovations businesses
across the East Midlands.
A further seven of Berryman's dedicated specialist teams have
also secured a ranking in the latest Legal 500 - Corporate &
Commercial, Insolvency & Corporate Recovery, Employment,
Insurance, Construction, Property Litigation and Sport - which all
hold third-tier positions in their specialisms in the East Midlands
region.
Head of business services Duncan James, was voted by Legal 500
as an 'acknowledged dealmaker in the region', whilst Adam Youatt, a
partner and head of Berryman's Property Development team, is
described as 'particularly helpful and knowledgeable'.
