The opening of the site by the Grantham-based oil company will
enable quicker delivery of products to customers and an
improved overall service within the county, particularly in
the more rural areas.
The site will sell and distribute heating oil, farm diesel and
road diesel in the Spilsby, Louth, Skegness and Boston areas
of the county, increasing the company's reach across
Lincolnshire's east coast.
This is the fourth depot in Lincolnshire run by the business
which currently has other sites in Grantham, Lincoln and
Spalding.
Chandlers was set up in 1935 as a family-run organisation and
also has shared facilities in Nottingham and
Immingham.
Company Director Nick Caunt said: "Despite the current recession
we believe it is important to continue our expansion and this
new venture in Spilsby is part of our overall investment
plan.
"We believe it will ensure we provide the best service to our
customers and, while shorter journeys will reduce
transportation costs for us, the new depot means people will
receive their oil and diesel faster.
"The rural nature of the area means many people rely on us to
help them heat their homes and fuel their farms, businesses
and vehicles so speed is essential."
It is hoped that the depot may also create new jobs in the
future. Nick added: "As people become more aware of the depot
we hope to increase the number of tankers serving the site but
for now we will be ensuring everyone knows we are here."
