Hinckley based PTS is backing an industry call for the
Government to introduce a boiler scrappage scheme.
The leading merchant agrees that in the same way the car
scrappage scheme has been introduced to help the motor industry,
the replacement of older boilers with high-efficiency, Band A,
condensing models could bring numerous benefits to manufacturers,
merchants and installers.
Alan Ball, PTS Managing Director, said: "I believe that it's
important for the Government to pay attention to our industry and
consider new proposals to increase demand and ultimately sales. Not
only could the boiler scrappage scheme result in these financial
benefits but it could also help with environmental targets. The
Government has legally obligated targets to achieve and incentivise
the conversion from permanent pilot light, back boilers and other
inefficient models will go a long way in making a significant
contribution to those targets. At the same time the increase in
demand will support manufacturing, distribution and installation
securing much needed employment in the sector.
"The installation of high efficiency boilers in a larger
proportion of homes will help to cut fuel bills whilst increasing
demand in all sectors of the industry. As representatives for the
industry it's up to us to push for change and let the Government
know that new schemes need to be put in place to incentivise
homeowners and boost sales."
