Wulston Alderman says that businesses need to be 'ready for off'
like greyhounds, prepared for recession to ease
Businesses and professionals in Worcestershire and the West
Midlands were today warned by a senior business coach to be
prepared and 'ready for off' as soon as the recession storm begins
to ease.
Wulston Alderman, says that business owners need to prepare
themselves - and staff - for the move in the markets, or risk being
left at the starting gate.
Alderman has been coaching for the last 9 years nationally
across brands such as Land Rover, Rolls-Royce and MINI, as well as
small firms.
He said: "This is the hardest recession we have known, and
many are holding back, and not investing in themselves or their
businesses. But they need to be like greyhounds, ready to
make up lost ground."
He works with owner managers, mature staff who are changing
jobs, as well as executive and team coaching. He also career
coaches young professionals, enabling them to advance without
stress.
He is helping professionals to climb the corporate ladder,
showing them how to avoid 'burnout' or bullying by recognizing
their core values.
The strategy is that when these values, beliefs and goals line
up, success follows. One Worcestershire professional had been
unhappy and felt trapped in his job, but with his help, identified
what he wanted in a career, on both a personal and professional
level, using techniques both useful and transferable to other
areas.
He added: "People need to line up their own values with
the culture of the company, or face great stress.
"Changing the way you respond is an essential part. Much
of my work involves career coaching, discovering people's core
values, or "maps in their heads" - the way things should be.
"Core values are revealed by a peak moment in time that was
particularly rewarding, showing their true feeling.
Discovering them avoids stress and is fulfilling, the
benefits spilling over across life. The opposite is also true if it
is a negative experience.
"Coaching really is effective with those prepared to take action
for themselves with the support of a coach. Without being
serious about taking action, results are not as desired."
Alderman, based in Kidderminster , Worcs, and Holder of a Noble
Manhattan Practitioner Coach Diploma with distinction, said that
business owners whose staff were prepared had the best chance of
improving prospects.
