Lincoln Business Club donated £600 to Strut in the
Community and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance at
its AGM on Friday (31st July).
A cheque for £300 was presented to representatives from
each charity by Lincoln City Chairman Steff Wright during the
meeting at the football club on Sincil Bank.
The two local organisations were nominated by Lincoln Business
Club members as this year's adopted charities.
Strut in the Community is currently celebrating its 25th year
and provides much-needed short breaks for children and young people
with disabilities in Lincoln.
"We are very thankful to the club for its generosity," said
Strut Organisation Manager Aimee Holland who received the cheque on
behalf of the charity.
She added: "Such donations enable us to continue offering our
services to local families, helping children and young people with
disabilities enjoy valuable fun and friendship through our
activities."
Vivienne Chambers picked up the cheque for the Lincolnshire and
Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance which is a dedicated medical air
service.
Fundraiser Vivienne said: "The charity is extremely grateful to
Lincoln Business Club for its support.
"It costs around £843,000 per annum to run a helicopter
and an average mission costs £1,229. We are totally dependent
on community support to keep us running and fundraising is our
lifeline."
Lincoln Business Club is a voluntary organisation which provides
networking opportunities for the city's business community and
currently has 500 members.
It was set up five years ago as a not-for-profit organisation
and donates the majority of members' entrance and sponsorships fees
to good causes.
Club Chairman Eddie Strengiel said: "We feel that it's important
that we, as a club and as business people, are able to give our
support to local charities.
"By this time next year we hope to increase our membership
numbers and contribute increased funds to more good causes in
Lincolnshire and further afield."
Lincoln Business Club meets at Lincoln City Football Club on the
last Friday of every month at 7am.
