A Nottingham City pub is expected to be packed out next week -
but not a drop of alcohol will be served.
The Jester pub in Sneinton is set to go under the hammer on 3
September - and the auction will take place on the premises.
Due the likely high demand of the property, the pub will be
auctioned at a "one off sale" on site, said heb partner Matt Hilton
who will be in charge of the hammer.
"Sometimes residential properties are sold like this, but never
on commercial properties - so this is a real first," he added.
"We have had a great deal of interest in the property and
decided to hold an individual sale - and where better to do it than
at the premises themselves? We are expecting swift bidding on the
day - but it is strictly an auction of the property, there will be
no selling of alcohol!"
The spacious, two-storey brick public house comes with a
guide price of £250,000. The Jester is on Sneinton Dale, at
the corner with Trent Road. It has parking space for 20 cars,
comprising five at the side of the building and the rest at the
rear.
The pub has living accommodation on the first floor and there is
potential for the new owner to change the building's use.
Peter Noble, head of licensed property at heb, said: "The Jester
is in a good prominent, main road location on Sneinton Dale. It's
within easy reach of shops and on a street that's central to the
area, with plenty of footfall. It's unusual to find a city pub with
so much parking and we think that will be attractive to buyers as
well.
"The site has a lot of potential and we're expecting a lot of
interest."
The Jester will be auctioned at 4pm on Thursday, September 3.
Those attending are advised that the pub will not be trading at the
auction.
