The Stourbridge-based Western Region of Mansell Construction
Services Ltd has refurbished part of Stourbridge Cricket Club's
Amblecote headquarters as part of the firm's sponsorship of the
club.
Mansell donated materials and labour for the refurbishment work
which was carried out by the company's interior solutions division.
Among the Mansell staff working on the project was the firm's
Apprentice of the Year Ben Shakespeare. He and other apprentices
worked under the guidance of recently retired site manager Brian
Hodgetts.
Mansell will be the club's main sponsor up to 2010 and the
sponsorship provides much needed funds for the club to buy players'
kit and equipment. The Mansell logo features on the players'
cricket whites and practice kit.
The sponsorship also includes a Mansell sign at the entrance to
the club's Memorial Ground, as well as signage around the
pitch.
Andy Price, Mansell's Western Region divisional manager said the
company was delighted to be associated with the club, which was
founded in 1842 and plays in Division One of the Worcestershire
County Cricket League.
"It's tremendous for Mansell to not only get involved in our
local community but also to support local sport," he said.
Club chairman Harilal Patel organised a celebration evening at
the club to thanks Mansell for their work, and to bid farewell
Brian Hodgetts luck in his retirement.
