Derwent Living has appointed two highly respected housing
figures to join its board.
Chris Langstaff, the current chief executive of Nottingham City
Homes, and Nick Ebbs, chief executive of Blueprint, a development
company that specialises in regeneration, have been appointed by
the Derby-based housing provider.
With over 35 years' experience, Chris Langstaff is well known in
the housing industry and has been chief executive at some of the
largest organisations in the country. His previous roles have
included managing director of Hounslow Homes, where he helped them
to achieve 3-star status with the Audit Commission. Chris is
currently leading the way at Nottingham City Homes where he has
successfully transformed service delivery from 1-star with poor
prospects in 2006, to 2 star with excellent prospects in 2008.
Chris says: "I am delighted to be joining Derwent Living as a
board member. I wanted to become a part of Derwent Living and see
it as a forward thinking organisation and I am impressed with the
determination within to improve service delivery and to engage
tenants and residents.
"I feel that I will be able to contribute significantly to
Derwent Living's ambition using the experience I have gained in
housing over the years and particularly in my last two roles where
I have used tenant involvement as a bed rock for change. I am
looking forward to the challenge."
A chartered surveyor, Nick has led the team at Blueprint since
formation in 2005 and has contributed to the delivery of innovative
new solutions for regeneration across the East Midlands. Previously
Nick was one of the founder members of the well known firm of
surveyors Innes England and was a director of Black Horse
Commercial (Midlands Division). He has over 25 years' experience of
working on major urban regeneration and development initiatives
across the Midlands, including City Challenge, Coalfields
renaissance projects and the Government's Sustainable Communities
Plan.

On his appointment to the Derwent Living board Nick said: "I see
housing as one of the huge challenges of the next decade. We
weren't building enough houses when the market was good a few years
ago and we definitely aren't now, which means we will struggle to
meet the housing needs of the future. I am interested in that
challenge and would like to contribute to the resolution.
"I have been aware of Derwent Living for many years and I joined
their commercial board last year. The organisation has a deservedly
good reputation for innovation and delivery. I am looking forward
to joining the board and hope that I can use my experience in the
commercial sector to add value."
Peter McCormack, Derwent Living chief executive, said: "We are
delighted to welcome Nick and Chris to the Derwent Living board.
Between them they have a vast array of experience and are well
known in the property industry. We see their appointments as a huge
bonus for the organisation. We know that they will both have lots
to offer Derwent Living."
