Maber Architects celebrate with the LABC Award on site at
Chetwynd.
A development of two highly efficient and innovative
eco-offices has recently been named 'Best Sustainable Development'
at the East Midlands Local Authority Building Control (LABC)
Building Excellence Awards.
Loughborough-based contractor and developer William Davis Ltd
speculatively developed the open plan office units as the final
phase of Chetywnd Business Park in Chilwell, Nottingham.
Utilising renewable energy and natural resources; the
eco-offices are designed to minimise the occupier's carbon
footprint yet at the same time remain aesthetically consistent with
surrounding buildings on the business park.
Designed by Maber architects, features include biomass wood
pellet boilers; energy efficient and movement sensitive lighting;
passive cooling systems and rainwater harvesting for WC flushing
plus cycle parking and shower facilities. Both eco-offices achieved
a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating and an 'A' rated Energy Performance
Certificate (EPC).
Stewart Kellie, development surveyor, William Davis
commented: "This award marks the conclusion of a successful
working relationship with Broxtowe Borough Council over the past
five years. Chetwynd Business Park has become one of Nottingham's
premier business locations and everyone associated with its
completion can be extremely proud."
As an LABC regional award winner, Chetwynd eco-offices will now
be entered into the National Awards, due to take place in
October.
One of the eco-offices is occupied by Toyota Materials Handling
UK while the remaining unit is being marketed by Savills of
Nottingham. For further information please contact Ian Muxlow on
