A Shropshire company is benefiting from the opportunities
presented by the London 2012 Olympics - and is involved in many
other major construction projects in the UK and around the
world.
Tension Control Bolts Ltd produce a high-strength bolt that can
be used in almost all steelwork connections.
The company's tension control bolts are being used on the
steelwork construction of the main Olympic Stadium in London. And
much of the steelwork for the Olympic Aquatics Centre is being
assembled using the company's tension control studs.
Tension Control Bolts Ltd have also just secured a contract to
supply 400,000 bolts to strengthen the West Gate Bridge in
Melbourne, Australia.
The company's success has been helped by advice and support
offered by business advisers at the former North Shropshire
District Council, who signposted them to help and grant support
available from Business Link and Advantage West Midlands.
The company are now speaking to Shropshire Council about plans
to expand and take on more staff.
David Roberts, Shropshire Council's Cabinet member for local
environment and economy, said: "I'm delighted to see a Shropshire
business benefiting from some of the many opportunities that the
London 2012 Olympics offers, and enjoying such success across the
world. I'm pleased that the support provided by the council and our
partners has played a small part in helping Tension Control Bolts
to enjoy such success."
Tim Stokes, Managing Director of Tension Control Bolts Ltd:
"We're delighted to be working on the Olympics Stadium and
Aquatics Centre. We have worked tirelessly over the last 12 years
to gain acceptance for our bolts all over the world. Countless
tests and trials for various organisations from the Highways Agency
and Network Rail to Alstom Power and Rolls Royce have afforded us
the credibility required to be involved with London 2012 and with
some of the most prestigious construction projects worldwide. We
are grateful for the valuable support and advice received from
North Shropshire District Council and Shropshire Council."
