A successful series of interactive workshops in practical
leadership skills has been specially adapted for Shropshire
healthcare managers and their deputies.
Aimed at helping them gain confidence, become more effective and
cope with their ever-increasing workload, the course will address
sector-specific real business issues and identify best practice
methods.
To minimise disruption to the GP surgeries, dental practices and
other healthcare organisations they are aimed at, the workshops are
in four bite-sized chunks of half day sessions. The first series
will be held at Telford Football Stadium during August and
September, with a further series planned to take place in
Shrewsbury.
They workshops will be delivered by The Business Company through
the Business Link Director Development Programme (DDP). The
Business Company have already run a number of similar workshops for
managers in other sectors.
Through the DDP, companies and organisations can get match
funding up to £1,000 from Business Link, provided they have
between 5 and 249 employees and have not previously accessed the
programme. Delegates put forward must be key decision
makers.
Ellen Morley, Principal of The Business Company, said: "In
essence the DDP deal enables clients to get £1500 worth of
training for just £500 if they send three delegates. If they
send only one delegate, then Business Link will reimburse the cost
fully."
"Workshops are deliberately limited to between six and ten
people so that everyone has an opportunity to contribute. We will
be looking at roles, accountability, responsibility, and how to
achieve assertive and consistent behaviour as a Leader/Manager.
Delegates will learn how to better manage themselves, their time
and their team, as well as how to improve their communication and
interpersonal skills and deal with challenging situations and
difficult people."
