Leicestershire-based Power On Connections, the UK's leading
independent connections provider for electrical infrastructure to
commercial developments, has commenced works to supply the
electrical connections for the new Caterpillar Stand at Leicester
Tigers Welford Road stadium.
Power On will provide the development with a High
Voltage (HV) Metered Ring Main Unit to the new customer-owned
1500kVA transformer, also co-ordinating works with the local
highway authority to excavate across the busy Aylestone Road up to
the point of connection in the highway.
The Caterpillar stand is the first phase in the
£60m redevelopment of Welford Road, which will see the
stadium's capacity initially increase to 24,000. Upon completion of
the additional phases, Welford Road will hold 30,000 and will be
the largest, purpose-built club rugby union stadium in the
UK.
Chris Bean, managing director, Power On Connections
said: "The new Caterpillar stand at Welford Road is already
dramatically changing the city's skyline and will no doubt become a
dominant landmark for Leicester. The fact that Power On is involved
in facilitating this gives me an enormous sense of achievement,
both professionally and as a lifelong rugby fan - I greatly look
forward to see the finished product!"
