Nottingham is to be partnered with the Russian city of
Krasnodar, earmarked to host the 2014 winter Olympics.
Officials from Krasnodar will visit Nottingham on Thursday July
23 to sign a city partnership agreement and to open discussions
encouraging businesses from the East Midlands to bid for Olympic
sized contracts.
Mr Alexander Dombrovskiy, the First Vice-Mayor and Director of
the Financial Department along with Mr Boris Staroselskiy,
Vice-City Manager and Chief of the Department for Foreign Relations
will meet with The Lord Mayor, (Cllr Jeannie Packer), Cllr Alan
Clark (neighbourhood regeneration) and John Connelly (regional and
international manager) at the Council House in Nottingham.
A tour of the city will include Nottingham Castle and the Lace
Market. They will also meet other regional business officials at
the Adams Building, New College Nottingham.
Representatives of UK Trade & Investment, including the East
Midlands' International Trade Director Peter Hogarth, will be part
of the group to discuss exactly what East Midlands' businesses can
offer the region of Krasnodar and lay the foundations of what is
hoped will be a long standing and successful partnership.
Also present will be Jane Waldron, International Trade Adviser
for UKTI who will be leading a market visit to Russia to include a
visit to the Krasnodar region in February next year.
UKTI East Midlands International Trade Director, Peter Hogarth

Krasnodar have chosen to visit Nottingham and we welcome their
visit.
"The 2014 Winter Olympics is an exciting prospect and the
opportunity for businesses in the East Midlands to be part of it
must not be missed.
"We are currently facing difficult times and every business
opportunity must be embraced."
The region of Krasnodar will be hosting the Soschi 2014 Winter
Olympics from February 7 to 23, 2014.
