Lincoln Business Club is to donate £600 to Strut in the
Community and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance at
its AGM this month.
A cheque for £300 will be presented by Lincolnshire Echo
Editor Jon Grubb to representatives from each charity at the
monthly meeting to be held at Lincoln City Football Club on Friday
31st July at 7am.
The two groups were nominated by club members as this year's
charities of choice. HOPE and the Nomad Trust were also
shortlisted.
The Lincoln Business Club was first set up five years ago as a
not-for-profit organisation and donates the majority of members'
entrance and sponsorships fees to good causes.
As the club has grown - It now has a membership of 500 business
people - the amounts given to charity have also increased.
Club Chairman Eddie Strengiel said: "It's thanks to our members
that we are able to donate money to worthwhile causes and I think
as a business community it's important that we support
organisations that help Lincolnshire people.
"With new members joining all the time we hope to be able to
continue this activity and further increase the amount of money we
give to charities on an annual basis."
Strut in the Community is a Lincoln charity that provides
much-needed short breaks for children and young people with
disabilities.
The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance is a
dedicated medical air service and can reach any destination in
either county in 19 minutes.
In 2007/2008 the air ambulance flew 1,104 missions and on 6th
March 2008 completed its 10,000th mission.
Lincoln Business Club is a voluntary organisation which provides
networking opportunities for the city's business
community.
Chris Trigg from Crucis Consultants is sponsoring the July
meeting while A Star Plumbing & Maintenance owner Michael
Jordan will be giving members an insight into his business as last
month's business card draw winner.
As well as presenting the cheques, Jon Grubb will also be giving
a presentation about the Lincolnshire Echo.
