Derwent Living has been shortlisted in the Inside Housing
magazine Sustainable Housing Awards 2009.
The Derby-based housing provider has been shortlisted in the
'Energy Saving Initiative of the Year' category for its' Mr
Lightbulb campaign.
Derwent Living appointed Trevor Price, aka 'Mr Lightbulb' in
2008 to fit energy saving lightbulbs to thousands of its properties
across the Midlands. Trevor, whose official title is 'Environmental
Lighting Officer', has already fitted tens of thousands of
lightbulbs as well as giving residents advice on heating and other
ways to save energy consumption and expense in the
household.
The Inside Housing awards focus on the best "green" social
housing projects constructed in the UK, and the organisations
responsible for them. The trophies will be presented at a suitably
"eco" awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in London's Park Lane on
Friday 23rd October.
Ted Stevens, Inside Housing's events director and the organiser
of the awards said: "We've had a terrific response, with hundreds
of entries and Derwent Living has done brilliantly to get
shortlisted from such a huge field. Britain is leading the way on
sustainable housing and innovative building techniques so we're
delighted we're able to organise a ceremony to reward that
organisations that are delivering best practice".
Last year nearly 500 people attended the event, which was hosted
by green campaigner, comedian and impersonator Alistair
McGowan.
