A Glossop engineering firm is going from strength to strength
thanks to increased export sales - boosted by support from UK Trade
& Investment.
Pressure Tech, which produces stainless steel pressure
regulators for oil rigs and gas lines, has recently secured
contracts in Korea and Singapore with plans to spread their net
further afield to the Far East and Middle East.
The firm, of Rossington Place, Hadfield, has now set ambitious
targets to reach a turnover of £1 million in 2010 - a figure
only to be reached through their increasing export sales.
Pressure Tech Managing Director Steve Yorke-Robinson said:
"Predominantly it will be the additional business from export that
will help us achieve that target."
Pressure Tech joined UKTI's Passport to Export scheme in 2006
and as a result of a trip to Korea match funded by the scheme a
deal was struck which has since led to further orders.
Said Steve: "This is a good example of where support from UKTI
has helped us generate extra business. From an initial inquiry for
an application, I was able to go over and meet the customer. We got
a couple of orders as a result of that visit and have recently had
a couple more. Outside of Europe, South Korea was the first
international country we targeted.
"Passport to Export made us more aware of the opportunities and
what strategies were needed for exporting. It really focused us on
our marketing activities and different supply routes to
market."
Pressure Tech has also joined UKTI's recently launched Gateway
to Global Growth scheme, which saw Steve fly to Brazil on a
complimentary British Airways flight to attend a trade exhibition
Offshore Brazil in Rio.
Said Steve: "The new scheme is like the next step from Passport,
more of a mentoring scheme. It gave me the chance to visit a new
distributor in Brazil - a country which has the potential for off
shore oil over the next 20 years."
Pressure Tech's longer term strategy also includes targeting the
Far East and the Middle East, including countries such as Dubai,
which have a huge oil market.
John Wilson, International Trade Adviser, said:
"Pressure Tech is only a small company but has an impressive
turnover. They are a great example of how boosting export sales can
make a significant difference.
"UKTI has a number of schemes designed to help firms which want
to reap the rewards associated with looking overseas to market
their product."
