Corporate and private client law firm Challinors has acquired
Wolverhampton private law practice Shelton Solicitors.
The move marks Challinors return to Wolverhampton after eight
years and the latest step in the firm's ambitious expansion plans
that include growing to become one of the top five law firms in the
Midlands within three years.
One of the longest established law firms in the Black Country,
Sheltons has been based in Queen Street, Wolverhampton since it was
founded more than 150 years ago and provides legal advice and
expertise to private and commercial clients based both locally and
throughout the region.
The firm's three partners - Peter Hingley, Peter Caddick and
David Hingley - will remain in Wolverhampton as consultants for
Challinors.
Challinors chief executive, Andy Hodges, comments: "Challinors
already has offices in West Bromwich and Birmingham city centre in
the West Midlands and by joining forces with Sheltons and using the
local and legal expertise of the incumbent team, the firm is
further strengthening its ties with the Black Country and our
traditional client base, and importantly returning to Wolverhampton
after an absence of eight years.
"Sheltons is a significant high street practice in Wolverhampton
and across the Midlands, with a good reputation for dependable
legal advice and supportive client service, and provides a
complementary range of legal services to those in place at
Challinors, both to private individuals and small to medium sized
business.
"Challinors remains committed to servicing the local business
and personal community," says Andy, "and by expanding our ability
to offer services to the individual and the business, from a high
street location, these clients can easily access exceptional legal
advice locally. Sheltons and its general practice legal expertise
and location fit extremely well with Challinors and its ambition
for sustained growth across the Midlands."
Peter Hingley adds: "Despite the changing face of the legal
profession and how and from where businesses and private
individuals can access legal advice, there continues a real need
for a local legal practice, with proven commercial sense and
breadth of service and support. By joining forces with Challinors,
we can continue to deliver this type of local and regional legal
advice, but now at an enhanced level, with the excellent support
and resources of Challinors now available to the Wolverhampton team
and its clients. The Wolverhampton office will now also be able to
offer Legal Aid financial support to qualifying clients."
Challinors' partner in the Family Law team, Alan Carnerio, will
be the firms 'partner in residence' in the new Wolverhampton
office, with the firms' senior partner Paul Griffiths, clinical
negligence legal specialist Nigel Sellar and consultant Roger
Bishop. The Wolverhampton office will be known as Challinors
Sheltons, contact: Tel: 01902 428121.
Challinors began its expansion across the region in November
2008, when it opened its first East Midlands office in Nottingham.
The firm has offices in Wolverhampton, Birmingham and West Bromwich
in the West Midlands. Challinors has 23 partners and over 100 fee
earners, and is ranked as one of the top legal firms in the West
Midlands, being Number 1 in the Chambers UK Directory in a number
of categories.
