Torrential rain failed to dampen the launch by racing legend
Jenny Pitman OBE, of a new Rex Johnson Online gold buying centre in
Bromsgrove.
Crowds braved the weather to meet the 'Queen of Racing' as she
re-opened the former Portman Building Society offices in the High
Street, as an outlet for buying all types of unwanted gold
jewellery, gold wrist and pocket watches, coins and medals -
broken, crushed or perfect.
Jenny, renowned as one of the greatest female trainers in the
history of racing also brought a selection of her unwanted gold
jewellery to cash in on the top prices being paid by Rex Johnson
Online in the current gold price boom.
In due course the outlet, which will be open Monday to Saturday
from 9.30am to 4.30pm will also be offering cheque cashing and a
pawn broking facility.
Also marking the occasion was up and coming jockey Trevor
Whelan.
He was sporting the bright orange and blue colours of the highly
successful Jenny and Mark Pitman Racing Club, sponsored by Rex
Johnson & Sons the leading Birmingham-based family
jewellers.
Also on hand was 'Lucky', a pet pony from the Alvechurch based
Ian Williams Racing where several of the club's horses are
trained.
The Bromsgrove site is the fourth of its kind to be opened in
just three months by the long-established family business.
The first Rex Johnson Online outlet was opened in Coventry
city centre at the end of April, the second in Sheldon Shopping
Centre in May, and the third in Bearwood just over two weeks ago.
David Johnson, Managing Director of Rex Johnson & Sons and
co-director of Rex Johnson Online said: "The overwhelming response
has prompted this fourth opening which was originally scheduled for
later this year.
"People are realising that there is ready cash tied up in their
old, broken or unwanted jewellery and are coming in to sell it
while gold prices remain high."
Rex Johnson & Sons also buys unwanted gold for top prices at
its shops in Corporation Street, Birmingham and Birdcage Walk,
Dudley.
