Today it was announced that two of the regions top restaurateurs
achieved one of the industrys highest accolades by winning an

Caines, and countless other leading hospitality figures as industry
stars of the future, highlighted Laura Penman owner of Fishmore
Hall, and Michelin Award winning Will Holland of La Becasse, both
located in Ludlow, as winners of this years prestigious award.
When hearing of his award at the sponsors Von Essen Country
House Hotel of Washbourne Court, in the Cotswolds, Will Holland
commented "This award really is a privilege. Since I was young I
have always been aware of 'The Acorns' as recognising young talent
in the industry, and admired the winners, but I never thought that
I would be one of them.- It is a real privilege to be amongst
them'. Will who is one only 5 chefs in the UK who are under 30 and
hold a prestigious Michelin Star, is credited as being one of
the Uk's rising stars."
Laura Penman, who bought and renovated Fishmore Hall, also in
Ludlow, opening just 18 months ago, was recognised for her
achievements in transforming the once derelict school into one of
the UK's top boutique hotels added, "The past 2 and a half
years since we bought Fishmore Hall have been a real challenge, but
the recognition we have enjoyed from our guests and diners has
really made it worth our while. The Acorn award is the icing on the
cake."
La Becasse has recently been credited as offering 'The best
value lunch in the UK' by food writer Simon Majumdar of top UK food
blog site http://www.doshermanos.co.uk, following his visit to the
region during May, hosted by regional foodie James Day of regional
dining club Gourmet Life who commented: 'These awards highlight the
new era that is dawning in Ludlow, of next generation restaurateurs
who are focused on offering the finest hospitality in what is fast
becoming the leisure and food region of the UK for this years
'stay-cationers' those who are no longer prepared to waste their
hard earned money flying abroad, but prefer to appreciate what our
own country has to offer, both in quality, and value. This award
highlights that this region, particularly Shropshire, has its fair
share of talent."
The Acorn awards are voted by industry leaders including
sponsors Von Essen Hotels owners of The Elms Hotel,
