A group of accountancy trainees from leading chartered accountants and business advisors Smith Cooper have proved their potential following a series of successes in their recent examinations.

One trainee at the firm, which is based on Haydn Road in Nottingham, has become qualified, whilst six others have passed their latest set of examinations and are one step closer to becoming fully qualified accountants.

Steven Tawn who joined the firm in 2006, has completed his final ACCA exams, whilst trainee accountants Stacey Simmonds, Victoria Fell, Sian Wills, David Turton, Antonio Ferrara and Nicola Saxton have all successfully completed their latest set of ACCA or ICAEW exams and are continuing to study with Smith Cooper whilst gaining experience in all areas of auditing and accountancy.

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and ICAEW (the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales) are global bodies for professional accountants and provide business-relevant qualifications to trainees seeking a career in accountancy, finance and management.

Commenting on the trainees' recent success, managing partner Greg Whiting said: "I am delighted for the trainees who have succeeded in the latest round of professional exams and would like to congratulate them on all their hard work."

Steven Tawn added:"I am thrilled to have completed my training and am looking forward to gaining more experience with the audit and accounts team here. I would also like to congratulate my colleagues on their recent exam success and wish them luck for the next phase of exams."

Along with general compliance services, Smith Cooper operates dedicated corporate finance, specialist tax and corporate recovery and insolvency teams, as well as separate financial solutions, IT and HR divisions.

The firm also has offices in Derby, Birmingham, Leicester, Burton, Alfreton, Ashbourne, Ilkeston and Buxton.
