Rail Development Director
UCS Rail, the newly formed rail division of UCS Civils, has
appointed experienced engineer and manager Terry Everall to its
senior management team to help drive the business forward.
Last year parent company UCS Civils was approved to work in the
UK rail industry after successfully completing the national rail
industry supplier qualification scheme, Achilles
Link-up, and is now qualified to work for over 80 rail
organisations.
The Lincoln and Chesterfield-based contractor established UCS
Rail last month in a bid to strengthen its commitment and position
in the sector.
Terry has more than 42 years' experience and an extensive range
of contacts within the industry.
In addition to his British Rail and Railtrack experience he set
up White Young Green's (WYG) rail business. As Managing Director,
Terry grew the turnover of the company to more than £20
million per annum before taking a back seat in 2008.
In his role as Rail Development Director Terry aims to increase
the opportunities for UCS Rail in working as a main contractor
either for Network Rail or other train operating companies as well
as with other specialist rail contractors.
Explaining what attracted him to the role, Terry said: "Although
UCS Rail is in its early stages of development, parent company UCS
Civils has made a good start, having already won a number of
contracts involving rail work.
"UCS Rail also already has in place a core team of experienced
industry professionals and its own plant and labour which makes it
a very cost-effective proposition for rail organisations, giving
greater control over the safety, quality and commercial performance
of its operations."
As a successful civil engineering contractor UCS Civils has a
proven track record and will rely on the same skills competencies
which helped it to grow to a £30 million pa business in just
six years.
Initial project targets include car parks, drainage schemes,
earthworks, platform extensions, structures and depot works.
