An experienced business solicitor is returning to practice in Nottingham, a city which he believes has a dynamic future despite the current recession. Martin Hall has joined Wilford based Cleggs Solicitors.

As a commercial law specialist, with emphasis in business and share sales, joint ventures, management buy-outs, reconstructions, partnerships and franchising, Martin sees there is still a significant amount of activity in Nottingham.

"There is not the scale of deals that there  were  when I was in Nottingham three years ago and businesses are much more cautious but it there is still a lot of activity, the professional landscape looks very different today.  I have been dealing with a variety of projects as businesses take the opportunity to look inwards reviewing their internal procedures and policies to prepare themselves for and up-turn in the economic climate. Particular sectors that are developing include  restructuring  particularly in family businesses,  who are looking to ensure succession to the next generation happens smoothly "

Originally from Birmingham, Martin is a graduate of Nottingham Law School and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and practised with Massers Solicitors in Nottingham for seven years.  He has returned to the city following his role as Director of Legal Services at a major Midlands firm and is glad to be back in a commercial environment.  Unusually within his profession, Martin has both experience and is qualified in law and accountancy, giving a unique insight into company business.

"Whilst I enjoyed my time working in-house, it does not match the buzz of being able to service a diverse client base by providing them with a quality legal service, when they want it at a cost effective price."

Whilst in Nottingham, Martin worked on a significant number of high profile deals including retail, industrial and franchises operations.

Martin is acting as a Consultant at Cleggs, who provide legal services to commercial and private clients across Nottingham and the East Midlands. Ian Torr and Cleggs' Managing Partner commented "Martin strengthens our team and broadens the scope of our already expanding practice."
