Less than two years after setting up Husky USA,
Lutterworth-based Husky Group has achieved the highest approval
rating possible to sell Husky products officially in the US.
Husky is now fully approved to sell not only to distributors and
consumers, but also to national and US government
organisations.
US inspectors examined and tested the Husky products in their
own laboratories. They visited Husky manufacturing facilities in
China - and can return at any time to check the products and
processes.
Husky USA co-president Peter Taylor explained: "Gaining all the
approvals we deemed important to our business was complex, at times
arduous and an expensive investment - around £250,000.
But it does show the world that Husky is here for the
long-haul and it means we can now get down to business in the US.
It's a very exciting time."
Building on an existing large telesales operation in Chicago,
Husky USA is now targeting eight southern states - from California
to Florida - to market Husky' full range of products via
distributors. It also has an experienced in-house design team able
to meet all customers' branding needs and pr activities.
At the start of a national sales drive - now that the products
are fully approved in the US - Husky USA is developing a range of
super-efficient coolers using innovative technology, and a range of
sub-zero chillers to meet increasing customer demands. These
products will also be available for global distribution.
Complementing the commercial side of the business, Husky USA's
retail business is also thriving, supplying Husky Kulekube
mini-chillers with iconic brands such as Harley- Davidson and Jack
Daniels.
Husky USA has also established an enterprise in Georgia for its
service department, spare parts and back-up holdings and assembly
and warehousing plant.
In addition, Husky USA is now the sole importer/distributor into
the US of Carrier Corporation's open-fronted multi-deck chiller:
"There are a couple of big manufacturers here with a significant
market share of the refrigeration business, but we have a great
opportunity now that Husky products are approved to the highest
level in the US.
"Our products are designed with reliability and aesthetics in
mind; our overheads are low by comparison, so our prices can be
very keen and - of increasing significance - they are also part of
Husky's vibrant 'green' agenda," added Peter Taylor.
