One of the world's largest televisions, with a giant 103-inch
screen, will soon be available from a Leicester specialist.
The large flat-screen plasma television is so heavy that
engineers have to inspect homes where it is to be installed to make
sure that the floors are strong enough to take the weight.
Bang & Olufsen of Leicester is one of around just 100
specialists in the UK about to take orders for this unique product
which costs about £80,000.
The BeoVision 4-103 is seen as the ultimate flat screen
television and comes complete with a powerful motorised stand that,
at the touch of a button, raises the screen to the ideal viewing
position.
It then tilts to the owner's pre-set viewing angle, electronic
curtains automatically draw apart and a powerful loudspeaker
emerges from beneath the screen and glides forward.

Ed Withers, who runs the Allandale Road specialist, said: "It's
not just the sheer size that makes this incredibly impressive. Bang
& Olufsen has put all of its most advanced picture technology
into it as well as a whole new sound system called Adaptive Sound
Technology. This delivers sound, which appears to be directly in
front of you, no matter where you are in the room."
And if that's not enough, the huge television can be linked to
up to 14 BeoLab loudspeakers to produce a wall of sound to rival an
opera house.
The BeoVision 4-103 can also form the hub of an intelligent home
system combining audio, video and a host of automated home
electronics all controlled by a single programmable hand-held
remote control Beo5.
Ed added: "It's undoubtedly the ultimate total entertainment and
intelligent home system and I already have some customers who are
very keen to find out more about it."
Selected customers will be invited to an exclusive demonstration
of the BeoVision 4-103 in London, where they will be able to meet
some of the experts behind the innovation.
