A Staffordshire manufacturing company is set to clinch two
export contracts worth over £250,000 after taking part in a
global food and drink technology event, with help from UK Trade
& Investment.
Unitech Industries, of Prospect Road, Burntwood, is one of the
UK's leading premier stainless steel fabrication companies.
The company exhibited its food technology products at Anuga
FoodTec in Germany at Advantage West Midlands' Food and Drink
cluster's group stand, for five firms from the region, last month
(March).
Sales director John Armstrong said: "The event is already
bringing encouraging results for us and I'd definitely recommend it
to other companies in the sector.
"We are finalising technical details on an order for a one-off
conveyor, with potential of this being repeated for up to 20
conveyors worth in excess of £185,000, for a pan-European
company, and in negotiations to sign a contract worth up to
£125,000 for a number of washing systems with a Middle
Eastern firm as a direct result of taking part.
"Over the three days, we spoke to about 60 potential customers
and afterwards sent out a further two quotations for business worth
more than £100,000 in total. In addition, we are currently
working on quotations for two firms in Saudi Arabia, one in the USA
and one in India."
Established in 1992, Unitech Industries has about 210 employees
and an annual turnover of approximately £18m.
Anuga FoodTec is the world's most important trade fair for food
and drink technology.
Held every three years, the event enables exhibitors to meet the
industry's top decision makers from around the world under one
roof.
It covers the entire food and drink processing chain from
packaging technology, through refrigeration and air-conditioning
technology, to conveying, transport and storage facilities.
UK Trade & Investment regional international trade adviser -
food and drink, Shernel Stevenson, based at Herefordshire and
Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, manages the international trade
element of the AWM food and drink cluster.
She said: "The feedback from the West Midlands exhibitors has
been excellent. They have all met new buyers and made new contacts
and are now following up a number of very good enquiries.
"I'm particularly pleased that Unitech Industries has achieved
such good results within such a short timeframe."
